On December 2, 2009, the Ceremony for the Announcement of the Golden Bee 2009 Excellent CSR Reports, which was hosted by the China WTO Tribune, took place at the Empark Grand Hotel, Beijing. This is the first honor roll of excellent CSR reports ever published in China. They consist of social responsibility reports from thirty-three enterprises and three institutions. These reports represent the highest level of Chinese CSR reporting practice and provide valuable reference for numerous enterprises for preparing and publishing CSR reports.
Many awards were established for the ‘Golden Bee 2009 Excellent CSR Reports’ according to type of reporting enterprises and reported topics. These included Leading Enterprise Award, Growing Enterprise Award, Special Awards (employee care, customer focus, environmental protection, social development, and supplier focus) and Excellent CSR Report (Chinese Version) Award for multinationals operating in China. In addition, an Award for Special Contribution to Chinese CSR Reporting Practices was arranged in the light of the evolution of Chinese CSR practices.
COSCO, PetroChina, State Power Grid Corporation and China Coal Group won the Leading Enterprise Award, while Hongdou Industry Co., Ltd, Sanjing Pharmaceutical Ltd. of Harbin Pharmaceutical Corporation, Shanxi Antai Group and three other companies were rated as growing enterprises on the honor roll.
In the category of Special Awards, China Railway Group Co., Ltd. won the award for
employee care, China Mobile, Hua Xia Bank and SinoChem received customer focus awards, China Huadian Group and Shenhua Co., Ltd. were presented with environment protection awards, South China Power Grid Corporation and Dalian Wanda Group won social development awards, and Tsingtao Brewery Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Ltd. secured supplier focus awards.
Toshiba, DSM China and BASF won the ‘Excellent CSR Report (Chinese Version) Award for Multinationals Operating in China’. State Power Grid Corporation, SinoSteel, the China National Textile and Apparel Council, the China Federation of Industrial Economics and ECFIC of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment won the Award for Special Contribution to Chinese CSR Reporting Practices because of their outstanding contributions to the development of Chinese CSR reporting practices.
Publication of this honor roll will provide a professional arena for showcasing distinctive, outstanding reports as well as valuable reference for numerous compilers of CSR reports.
